Personalized Service
At Ecuador Bird Watching Tours, we understand what a great birding experience requires so we offer you everything necessary to make your Ecuador birding experience memorable. We can assist you with recommendations for accommodations; in-country travel; restaurants and even your overall itinerary. If you want to experience some non-birding activities, we can help with that too. We speak English and Spanish.
Country-wide Destinations
Ecuador Bird Watching Tours is based in Puerto López, in the heart of the Machalilla National Park and just a short boat ride from Isla de la Plata – considered by most to be the ‘mini-Galapagos’. But, we can also set up tours throughout the country. If you desire to add the Hoatzin (Opisthocomus hoazin) to your list, we can add an Amazon package to your itinerary or if you wish to see the Ecuadorian Hillstar (Oreotrochilus chimorazo), we can organize a trip to elevations above 3,600m in the Ecuadorian Andes.
We Understand Bird Watching
We are bird watchers too. We know the importance of things like leaving on time; making appropriate adjustments for weather, or; just knowing when it’s time to sit down instead of pushing on. We pride ourselves on our ability to understand what makes for a great birding experience.
"You can't always see every bird possible but it should be an enjoyable experience."

What our clients are saying…
“Great experience spending the day with Sandra. She was very knowledgeable and we saw many birds along the coast and inland. Sandra provided transportation as well as a great snack which we enjoyed while shorebird watching. We also received a link the next day that showed all the birds we saw on our walk and their songs. I highly recommend this hike!” Shawn
“Very interesting visit. We saw many birds both in the Ayampe River Estuary and on the Hummingbird Route. Sandra is very professional and a great expert in locating and identifying birds. We were also able to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Ayampe River and the great diversity of vegetation in the area. The walk is calm, so it is accessible to everyone. Without a doubt, a highly recommended experience for anyone who loves nature.” Julia
“Sandra is an incredibly talented guide and I cannot recommend her enough! We took several tours with her and every experience was amazing – we learned so much each and every time. She can customize the tour to focus on your interests and is able to lead tours in English or Spanish with ease.
When we visited Agua Blanca, she helped us learn how to find our target species AND also included a visit to the archaeological sites so that we understood both the history and also the biodiversity in the area.
She is a certified guide for Parque Nacional Machalilla and has expansive knowledge of birds, but also of cultural history, plants, fish, nature and archaeology. If you are looking for bird tours in Manabí or Santa Elena provinces, or for a knowledgeable bird (and underwater) guide for a visit to Isla de la Plata, look no further than Sandra and her expertise!” Alex
